THE MISSION UK SIGN TO THE END RECORDS
BAND TO EMBARK ON SUMMER NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
The End Records are proud to announce the addition of UK legends The Mission UK to their roster. Keeping busy with a North American tour in 2013, The Mission UK have sold over 4 million albums worldwide and just celebrated their 25th anniversary as a band in 2011. Presently, the band are rehearsing to prepare for their 12th studio album before boarding a ship for three back to back shows on the Bristol Channel. While cruising, The Mission will perform their new material to sold out audiences as an exclusive preview of the album. On April 18th, the band will head to a secluded residential studio in the heart of the UK, David M Allen (Depeche Mode, The Cure) is producing the album and comments, “It is a privilege and an honor to be working with the Mission on their new album for The End Records, I’ve had many dealings with the band over the last 30 years that I have known them, and this chance to record with the original members is very special”. But the most exciting part of these plans – the whole process will be filmed for The Mission UK’s new documentary, which will be released next year.
The band as well are looking forward to working with the Brooklyn based label. “Well, who would’ve thought it 12 years ago when we were touring Europe with my mate, Ville Valo and HIM, that we’d end up on The End Records with them in the good ol’ USA somewhere further down the track”, states singer Wayne Hussey. “Very nice to share a label with the legends that are Anvil too and looking forward to blagging some new Dandy Warhols CD’s…If we ask for drugs just laugh and say you can’t get any. It’s healthier for us and for you. See you soon.”

About The Mission UK:
In late 1985 Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams left The Sisters Of Mercy and formed The Mission and in early 1986 embarked on their first European tour, supporting The Cult. They released 2 singles independently, both reaching No.1 in the UK alternative charts, before signing a worldwide record deal with Phonogram (now Universal)
Their first single for the new label, “Stay With Me”, went straight into the UK chart at No. 30 followed by their debut album “God’s Own Medicine” at No. 14. Over the next eight years the band released six more albums and had a further 12 hit singles including anthemic classics such as “Wasteland”, “Tower Of Strength”, “Beyond The Pale”, “Deliverance” and “Butterfly On A Wheel”. Total worldwide album sales to date have now well exceeded 3 million.
During this period, The Mission enhanced their reputation as one of the best and most exciting live bands in the world winning countless accolades, and inspiring both lurid media stories and a fanatical following as they toured constantly including highlights like seven sold out consecutive shows at the Astoria Theatre in London, headlining the famous Reading Festival twice, and also playing with U2, The Cure and Robert Plant.
In 1994, the band parted company with Phonogram and signed their label “Neverland” to Sony Dragnet in Europe. Two years and two more album releases later, the band decided to call a halt to the general craziness of their existence to seek respite and well earned solace.
About XXV Anniversary & Homecoming:
2010 saw the 25th anniversary of The Mission. To celebrate this momentous time in history, Wayne Hussey announced that he, along with original members Craig Adams and Simon Hinkler and a special appearance at both the London and Leeds shows by long time Mission guitarist, Mark Thwaite would tour around the UK and Europe playing many of the classic Mission songs. Not only that, but both Fields of the Nephilm and Wonderstuff appeared with the Mission on certain dates!
In 2012, The Mission announced further dates on their XXV tour; initially in South America, a reunion tour with The Cult, headlining Download festival and now the band have announced a USA tour for Sept 2013.
