SCOTT LUCAS & THE MARRIED MEN TO TOUR WITH SAM FORGARINO’S EMPTY MANSIONS

Scott_Lucsas - Jim-Newberry_2

Scott Lucas & the Married are heading out on a spring tour with Empty Mansions, the new band led by Interpol’s Sam Fogarino and featuring Duane Denison (The Jesus LizardTomahawk) and Brandon Curtis (Secret Machines). Dates begin April 24th in Washington, DC and include two NYC shows on 4/26 and 4/27. A hometown show is set for 5/1 at the Empty Bottle in Chicago (full itinerary below).

“Awesome,” said Lucas “In addition to being from some of my favorite bands, they’re also some of the coolest guys. I don’t even have to play — I just wanna check out the shows.”

The Married Men recently released a video for “Steady Gaze,” the third single from the band’s second album Blood Half Moon. Lucas directed and edited the clip, which combines life-on-the-road footage of the seven band members singing along to the tune from the seats of their 15-passenger van intercut with onstage and offstage videos from their first national tour last year. Watch it here.

“Shooting inside a van hurtling down the highway at 70 miles per hour might not have been the safest thing — but I like it. We look like the Muppets,” said Lucas of making the video. “I also had to sift through hours of video of [bassist] Tom [Szidon] playing pool very badly. He plays a LOT of bad pool.”

Lucas is best known as the singer/guitarist for two-man, Chicago rock band Local H. For his solo records, he plays with a collective of musicians — the Married Men — which sometimes numbers as many as seven and includes violin, organ and accordion. Reviewers have compared the band to American Music Club, Wilco, the Waterboys and Nick Cave. Lucas calls the group’s evolving sound “country-ish, alt-rock for people who like metal.”  Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune listed their current album, Blood Half Moon,  in the top 10 indie releases of 2012. The band toured with Deer Tick last summer and has played shows with James Iha, Kelly Hogan, Tristen, the Airborne Toxic Event and others in the past year. The band is currently working on a new EP.
