In related news, to commemorate the release of Stop The Bleeding, the group was honored in their home city of Detroit this past Friday. The celebration, aptly dubbed ‘Sponge Day’, which included visits to WJBK FOX 2 News and 101 WRIF, an intimate acoustic performance and signing for fans at F.Y.E. in neighboring Berkley, Michigan followed by an all-ages live show at the Diesel Concert Lounge later that evening left the group’s vocalist feeling a spirited sense of gratitude. “Sponge is FIRED UP and honored to be in a position to bring a new record we are so proud of to our loyal audience/friends”, says Dombroski. “This made possible by the hard work and dedication of the folks at The End Records…………….LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL!”
During both Detroit performances, Sponge collected items for the Detroit Firemen’s Benevolent Fund, a non-profit fund – originally formed to assist families of fallen and disabled firefighters- in order to collect and distribute – toilet paper, paper towel, cloth dish rags, dish soap, hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial hand soap and dish towels among Detroit’s 60+ firehouses.
