With an incredible career spanning over seven decades, multi-Grammy award-winning songstress Petula Clark announces new album, Lost in You, set for release on April 2, 2013 on The End Records. The album features a mix of new songs, including single “Cut Copy Me,” as well as beautifully done cover songs with a unique twist. “Cut Copy Me” will be available for purchase on iTunes on February 25, 2013.
The album showcases Clark’s diversity as the title track ‘Lost In You’ reverberates around a simple, yet beautiful piano refrain, while ‘Next To You” has an unforgettable sound co-written with Simon Wilcox, who wrote ‘Northern Lights’ for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” soundtrack. The album also features some unique cover songs, including a whole re-imagining of her signature hit “Downtown,” a beautiful version of the Gnarls Barkley hit “Crazy,” and a touching rendition of her friend Elvis Presley’s “Love Me Tender.” Also, Clark’s new take on “Imagine,” plays as a tribute to John Lennon who cited her as one of his favorite singers.
Clark was one of the key players in ‘the British Invasion’ as she scored 15 consecutive US top-forty hits. Her first Grammy came in 1964 for Best Rock & Roll Record with “Downtown,” which also hit No.1 in the US selling over three million copies. Her second Grammy came the following year, 1965, for “Best Female Vocal Performance” with “I Know a Place.” Clark has worked with Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Serge Gainsbourg, Tom Jones, The Carpenters, Frank Sinatra, Paolo Nutini, Barbara Streisand and countless other stars. Clark also starred opposite Fred Astaire in the Francis Ford Coppola directed film “Finian’s Rainbow” and has also starred in more than 30 other motion pictures.
